(Ames, IA) — Its the men’s turn to face off in the Cy Hawk Rivalry tonight at Hilton Coliseum, Iowa visits #4 Iowa St., coverage on KSOM.
Iowa is coming off an 83-64 win over Maryland and this will be Head Coach Ben McCollum’s first taste of the rivalry. Iowa St., meanwhile, upset then top ranked Purdue 81-58 which moved them up to number four in the polls. McCollum says that ISU did it because they frustrated the Boilermakers
Iowa St. led by Tamin Lipsey who came back against Purdue and played 31 minutes. McCollum is concerned about him and Killyan Toure but he is also concerned with Joshua Jefferson’s ability to score and distribute
This is will be Lipsey’s last Cy Hawk game and he says its special but he also must not get too emotional about it
Cyclones Head Coach TJ Otzelberger is impressed with what McCollum has done in his first season
Bennet Stirtz does lead the Hawkeyes averaging 18.8 points a game — Otzelberger talked more about his abilities
