(Atlantic) Braxton Hass and Jayden Harter are the Co-KS 95.7 Armour Insurance Athletes of the Week for their performances at the highly competitive 32-team Cliff Keen Invitational Wrestling Tournament at Independence over the weekend.
Hass and Harter finished the two-day event with 6-1 records and brought home third-place medals.
On Friday, Hass, wrestling at 132, won by fall, tech fall, and sudden death overtime. Hass came back on Saturday, and won a tech fall in the quarterfinals before falling short in the semi-finals to Gage Spurgeon of Eddyville-Blakes-Fremont by an 8-0 major decision. Hass went to the consolation side and won both matches, earning a 6-1 decision in both bouts for third place in the tournament.
Jayden Harter had similar results. The Junior, wrestling at 167, pinned all three of his opponents on Friday. On Saturday, he fell short to Dawson Beyer of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in the quarterfinals by a 9-4 decision. On the consolation side, he won by fall over Chase Humpal of New Hampton/Turkey Valley, pinned Kaden Wiele of West Liberty in a third-round consolation match, and won by a 6-1 decision over Cooper Franklin of Alburnett for third place.
