(Massena) The community of Massena embraced the Christmas spirit on Friday during the Chambers’ 7th Annual Christmas Lighted Parade, which began at 6:30 p.m. Old Man Winter forced the Chamber to reschedule the event from November 30, Friday, December 5, and the community turned out in force.
Atlantic Chamber member Doug Venteicher says the Cass County Cattlemen grilled steaks, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the upcoming Fourth of July celebration. Venteicher says they sold out.
This year’s exciting theme was “Holiday Movies,” with the Chamber encouraging all participants to embellish their floats with vibrant Christmas-themed decorations. The floats began lining up in front of the school at 5:45 p.m., and the parade officially kicked off at 6:30 p.m. Following the parade, a spectacular fireworks display lit up the night sky.
In addition to the festivities, the Cass County Cattlemen served grilled steak sandwiches at the Massena Fire Station from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Santa greeted children at the Old School House, where he stayed until 8:00 p.m., spreading holiday cheer.
