(Oakland, IA) — It was a blowout split at Riverside High on Friday night as the Bulldog girls won big and the IKM Manning boys won big.
Riverside girls won easily 60-29 while the Wolves took the nightcap 64-46.
The Bulldogs main focus was pressure the Wolves and get the ball inside to Sydney Somers. The Junior scored 13 points in the first quarter and 23 in the game — she also had 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Kayden Schnack added 11; Azlyn Clark hit two three pointers for 6 and Lilli Reed and Karlie Miller each had 5. Riverside led 20-8 at the end of the first; 39-14 at the half; and 47-21 at the end of three quarters. IKM Manning was led by Anna Stangl with 11 points but were just 1-10 from three point land. Riverside is now 3-1 while IKM Manning falls to 2-2.
In the 2nd game, the Bulldogs led 8-2 to start but IKM Manning went on a 10-0 run and never gave the lead back. Ben Ramsey got hot early — draining 4 three pointers in the opening quarter. Ramsey was shut down in the 2nd but Isaac Blankman responded with 3 threes and 11 points in the quarter. IKM Manning shot 60 percent from the field in the first half and 48 percent for the game. Ramsey led with 18 points, Blankman 14, Ashton Ahrenholtz had a big 2nd half and finished with 11.
Riverside was led by Owen Fenner with 18; Peyton Amdor and Cruz Jacquez each had 11. Brody Henderson was held to just 3 and Dawson Henderson was held scoreless. Cole Jeppesen did not play with a sprained ankle. Both teams are now 2-1 on the season.
