(Audubon, IA) — Audubon has solid numbers for its boys wrestling team as they open their season tonight.
The Wheelers only lose two seniors and Head Coach Tyler Christensen expects to fill just about all the weight classes. Leading the way are the Elmquist brothers who both went to state last year — Senior Lane went 38-16 and Sophomore Leyton was 43-14 and Christensen expects big things from them
Thomas Hogue is the only other senior on the Wheelers roster who Christensen says is a hard worker and will be able to wrestle after the Christmas break. Juniors Kayden Otten (12-15) and Alex Henkle (22-30) are looking for improvement and Junior Karter Obermeier missed the last two seasons because of injuries but is healthy this year.
Sophomore Jon Rasmussen (23-19) made it to state last year and Sophomore Mason Kasperbauer (22-21) both have a lot of potential says Christensen. Another Sophomore who could make an impact says Christensen is Jack Hansen from Exira EHK
Christensen says his number one goal is for everybody to stay healthy and if that happens, sky’s the limit
Audubon opens tonight with a triangular at Avoca with AHSTW and Logan Magnolia
