(Guthrie Center, IA) — EMS continues to be a hot topic in Guthrie County and the subject came up again at the Supervisors weekly meeting.
The Guthrie County Public Health Services Director Jotham Arbor presented his monthly report to the Supervisors and says that with a community EMS approach, they might be able to get support from the state
Arbor says that over the last 5 months they have used first responders and the Panora EMS to bridge relationships with local communities but still need additional funding. Supervisor Chair Maggie Armstrong says they will keep tabs on what the state will do
The Supervisors, meanwhile, still want to discuss the EMS issue as a whole in Guthrie County — Supervisor Steve Smith pushed again for looking at the EMS questions and issues as a beginning point including forming a committee. Armstrong agreed to put a discussion on the agenda for next week’s meeting.
The Supervisors also approved a payroll increase for Sheriff Deputies Josh Armstrong and Jason Gray who passed their 6 month probationary period, Sheriff Deputy Taylor Wheatley for a 5 years with the county and Jonathan Martinez, a new jailer.
