(Des Moines, IA) — A man is facing charges after police say he broke into the home of State Auditor Rob Sand this past weekend. Sand says he and his family came home on Sunday after travelling for Thanksgiving to find 41-year-old Jeffrey Moffett in their house. The family called the police after Moffett reportedly refused to leave. A criminal complaint states the suspect fought with officers but was eventually arrested on burglary and other counts. Officials believe Moffett had been in the Sand home since Friday. Police have said the break-in was not politically motivated, according to KCCI-TV.
