(Atlantic) The 2025 Scrooge Contestants brought in a new record amount of donations for the Atlantic Food Pantry.
The 2025 Scrooge candidates were Kristy & Dave York, Tanner Cisar, Derrick & Ruth Sears, and Krysta & BJ Hart.
The Scrooge Contest was established in 2002 by Eleanor Hoover. Following Hoover’s passing, Jackie Sampson and Karen Miller proudly took over coordinating duties in 2019, and more than two decades later, the contest continues to make a major impact. Contestants raise money and collect non-perishable food items to support the Food Pantry.
The candidates also brought in a record 6,431 food items, plus over another 1,000 items that went to the Anita Food Pantry.
Diann McLaren, representing the Food Pantry, said it takes a village.
Dave and Kristy York raised $17,222 and 752 food items to be named the 2025 Scrooge. Dave had this message to future candidates….
The contestant with the most points earn the title of “Scrooge” and serves as Grand Marshal of the Lighted Parade on Saturday, December 6th at 6 PM in Downtown Atlantic.
