(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC is set to have a strong wrestling season this year. The Chargers sent 6 to state last year and 4 return. Seniors Carter Richter, Angel Martinez and Jack Sheeder and Junior Ryder Cline are back to lead the team this year.
Richter went 33-15 last year and has not had success at the state tournament but has gone the last two years. He is motivated to do better and is working on some things
Angel Martinez went 30-23 last year and 0-2 at state but expects bigger things this year
Jack Sheeder went 20-14 last season and 0-2 at state. Chase Slaybaugh is the other senior on the Chargers who went 27-22 last year — Head Coach Lane Rumelhart says that Chase is motivated to do better
Junior Ryder Cline went 39-6 and 2-2 at state last season, Junior Ty Ganzer was 23-11, Sophomore Lane Stringer was 35-18. Rumelhart believes his the depth of talent to win some tournaments this season
AC/GC will open their wrestling season this Thursday December 4th in a Quadrangular at East Union with Nodaway Valley and West Central Valley.
