(Denison) Atlantic burst out to a fast start on Tuesday night, cruising to a 58–20 road victory over Denison-Schleswig. The Trojans opened the game on a 15–0 run and held a commanding 22–3 lead after the first quarter, never allowing the Monarchs to climb back into the contest.
Three Trojans finished in double figures: Zoey Kirchhoff paced the team with 12 points, Katrina Williams added 11, and Makenna Schroeder chipped in 10. Atlantic’s defense was dominant throughout, holding Denison-Schleswig to single-digit scoring in every quarter. Head Coach Dan Vargason said his team set the tone immediately from the opening tip.
Atlantic’s early surge featured a balanced attack. Lamp scored the first bucket, Kirchhoff followed with two free throws, a mid-range jumper, and a three-pointer for seven early points, while Schroeder also connected from long range to help fuel the Trojans’ rapid start.
Nine players scored for the Trojans. Lamp scored seven points, Maddie McLaren, 6, Jayden Franken, and Peyton McLaren four points each, Kaitlyn Hickman, and Jillian Saathoff rounded out the scoring, each with two points.
Atlantic controlled the game wire to wire, leading 22–3 after one quarter, 37–8 at halftime, and 50–20 after three before closing out the 58–20 victory. The Trojans hit five three-pointers and finished 11-of-15 at the free-throw line.
Mariah Carlson and Ann Wessel paced the Monarchs with six points each. Sara Munn added five, Monroe Byness scored two, and Isabelle Blume chipped in one.
Denison-Schleswig returns home to face OABCIG on Tuesday, December 2, while Atlantic hosts St. Albert on Monday, December 1.
