(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley Girls Basketball lost a lot of close games last year so Head Coach Mike Cormack is trying to flip the script this season. The Timberwolves went 5-16 a year ago but return one of the better players in the Pride of Iowa Conference in Hailey Randall. As a junior, she averaged 16.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game — Cormack says Randall has worked hard at improving her game
Gone is Southwest Valley’s #2 scorer (Maddie Bevington, 10.2 ppg) but Seniors Kenzie Fast (8.5 ppg, 7.5 rbg) and Ada Lund (5.2 ppg) are both back
Junior Lydia Forsythe will move into the starting line-up and Cormack says they are others that are candidates for the 5th spot and will be in the rotation — Elin Morgan, Sage Jones, Erica Mendenhall, and Addy Morgan are all freshmen who have potential. Cormack believes this team can turn their record around
Southwest Valley will open their season on Tuesday, December 2nd against East Union.
