Mr. Kenneth John Block, age 50, of Atlantic, IA, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at his home in Atlantic under hospice care.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 03, 2025, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA, with a reception to follow in the funeral home’s community room.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Mr. Kenneth John Block, age 50, of Atlantic, IA, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at his home in Atlantic under hospice care.
Ken was born on December 3, 1974, in Waupun, Wisconsin, to James and Sharon (Svacina) Block. In Ken’s younger years, he played youth soccer, football, basketball, and track & field. Ken was a graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa. Ken excelled at Track and Field for the Clinton River Kings, running the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He also ran the 4×100 and 4×200-meter relays. Ken also competed in the long jump as well. Ken brought home a multitude of medals and ribbons for his proven achievements.
Ken worked for several years as an over-the-road truck driver. He worked for Transport America, Westside Transport, and Madden Trucking. While trucking, Ken continued his education in computers and programming, eventually landing a job at Iowa Bankers and putting his education to work.
Ken always enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife, Jeni, and family. He also took up the hobby of cooking. If you have ever been around a Thanksgiving where he brings in pies and desserts or had one of his chili dogs, you know what we’re talking about.
He is survived by his wife Jeni Block of Atlantic, IA; his children Courtney Smith of Calhan, CO, Austin Block of Fort Dodge, Iowa and Quentin Block of Ames, IA; step-children Shelbi Williamson of Atlantic, IA, Colton Williamson (Cassidy Coenen) of Atlantic, IA, Rowen Williamson of Atlantic, IA and Destiny Andersen of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren: Kaiden, Harleigh, Ryker, Oakleigh, Hazel, Haisley, Nova, Raelynne and Charlotte; mother Sharon Block of Marshalltown, IA; brother Mike (Emily) Block of Marshalltown, IA; paternal grandmother Donna Block of Richland Center, Wl; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his father, James Block; brother, Allen Block; and aunts and uncles Denny Block, Randy and Kris Block, Rodney Block, Brian Gough, Bud Klawitter, John Svacina, Ron and Sandy Birt, Jim Bell and Don Bach; cousins Tony Block, Heidi Gaylor, Denise Stone and Phil Heine; grandparents Elbert Block, Bill and Betty Svacina. mother-in-law Sandy Fairbairn and father-in-law Harold Fairbairn.
