(Fayette Co.) A Fayette man died following an ATV accident Friday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 4:11 p.m. on 160th Street. 84-year-old Veryl Alfred Burghardt was driving a 2005 Arctic Cat 4-wheeler west on 160th Street, east of T Avenue, when the ATV entered the north ditch and crashed.
Burghardt was transported by Sumner EMS to Community Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Sumner Ambulance and Sumner Fire Department.
