(Earling) A woman who was charged following a murder in Earling has been given a deferred judgment and two years of probation.
Court records show Ashley McWilliams pleaded guilty to Accessory After the Fact in connection with the death of 32-year-old Theresa Kenkel. In addition to probation, McWilliams was ordered to pay a $1,025 civil penalty.
Last month, Winston Joseph Leal was sentenced to up to 50 years in prison for second-degree murder. Leal pleaded guilty in the killing of Kenkel, whose body was discovered on Thursday, July 31, when the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check at 204 2nd Avenue in Earling. Deputies entered the home and found Kenkel deceased inside.
