(Council Bluffs) The Council Bluffs Police Department says toxicology results for 52-year-old Jason Lee Evans of Council Bluffs, who was involved in a hit and run, show Evans was nearly four times the legal limit for alcohol and had marijuana in his system. Warrants are being applied for several charges including Homicide by Vehicle while Operating While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Crash.
On October 18, at approximately 6:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to a hit and run accident in the 1200 block of North Broadway. It was determined that a truck, driven by Evans, had rear-ended a motorcycle driven by 17-year-old Hayden Baker of Council Bluffs. Evans fled the scene, but was located a short time later by officers.
Baker was transported to UNMC where he later died from his injuries.
