(Carroll, IA) — There are six classes of high school football in Iowa and there is one class where the favorite is clear — everyone is expecting Kuemper Catholic to win the 2A state title but they first have to play Wilton in the semifinals this Saturday.
The Knights have been really good the last three seasons — winning 8 games in 2022 and 23 and 9 victories a year ago. Head Coach Ryan Steinkamp says there is one reason why they taken the leap forward this season and that is consistency
Steinkamp says he rotates guys on the offensive line but there is not a senior among them — the Knights use four juniors and three sophomores
Wilton is the only team in the state that made it to the semifinals that is not ranked in the Radio Iowa Poll. The Beavers have a balanced attack — Junior RB Noah Gray has 889 yards rushing, Senior Hayden Hill 600 yards on the ground, Junior QB Gunner Edwards has thrown for 1,679 yards and 16 TD although has 12 INT. Steinkamp knows the atmosphere of playing in the Dome is second to none
#1 Kuemper Catholic is 10-0, Wilton is 9-2, kickoff Saturday afternoon is at 1:00 pm.
