(Sidney, Iowa) The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office has concluded a multi-day investigation resulting in the arrest of Trevor James Hogrefe, 26, of Sidney, on a significant number of felony and misdemeanor charges related to domestic violence, criminal threats, and child endangerment.
The investigation was launched on November 7, 2025, following a report from the victim detailing a pattern of abuse and escalating threats spanning several months. It was also alleged that Mr. Hogrefe made threats to kill a former associate and one other person in September of 2025 and armed himself with a firearm with the intent to carry out the threat.
It was also alleged that Hogrefe made threats against law enforcement if they were contacted. A warrant for Mr. Hogrefe’s arrest was issued by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office. On November 7, 2025, Mr. Hogrefe was located and arrested by local authorities in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Additional Charges at Time of Booking
Upon Mr. Hogrefe’s transfer and intake at the Fremont County Jail on November 9, he allegedly assaulted multiple Sheriff’s Deputies and jail staff. This resulted in injuries to two deputies and three jailers, leading to additional charges being filed.
Mr. Hogrefe has been charged with the following counts:

• 3x DOMESTIC ASSAULT STRANGULATION
• 1x DOMESTIC ASSAULT PREGNANT PERSON
• 5x CHILD ENDANGERMENT
• 2x GOING ARMED WITH INTENT
• 1x FALSE IMPRISONMENT
• 1x HARASSMENT – 1ST DEGREE (THREATS)
• 1x OBSTRUCTING EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION
• 2x INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICIAL ACTS, CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY
• 1x CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 5TH DEGREE
• 3x ASSAULT ON PERSONS IN CERTAIN OCCUPATIONS CAUSING BODILY INJURY
• 2x ASSAULT ON PERSONS IN CERTAIN OCCUPATIONS WITH INTENT TO INFLICT SERIOUS INJURY
• 2X DISARMING A POLICE OFFICER
Hogrefe is being held without bond, pending an initial appearance with the Fremont County Magistrate.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
