(West Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office wants to let motorists know about an upcoming nighttime closure on eastbound Interstate 80 that will start at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, and end at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, weather permitting.
Crews need to close eastbound I-80 between Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118) and the Southwest Mixmaster (I-80/I-35/I-235) so they can work on grading and concrete pavement work.
If you want to reach southbound I-35 or eastbound I-235 during this closure you will follow a marked detour route using Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118), University Avenue, and southbound I-35.
You will travel on Valley West Drive/100th Street and U.S. 6/Hickman Road to reach northbound I-35/eastbound I-80 during the closure.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
