Colton Christopher Stuva passed away on November 4, 2025. Colton was born on January 31, 2002, in Corning, Iowa, to Chris and Heather (Hosch) Stuva. From a young age, he had a love for the outdoors, developed a strong work ethic, a sense of responsibility, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Colton lived most of his life in Adair County, Iowa. He attended Nodaway Valley School where he could be seen driving his ‘66 Ford Fairlane or ‘74 Nova. He enjoyed spending hours making improvements to his rides. After graduating in 2020, Colton headed to Brookings, SD, where he spent the next four years earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences while competing on the SDSU Jackrabbit Rodeo Team.
After his freshman year, Colton spent the summer working on a ranch in Wyoming. For the next two summers, he came home and worked for Ziegler in Atlantic. Following his graduation, Colton began working full time for Ziegler Ag as a Machinery Salesman.
He took great pride in farming, caring for livestock, and carrying on the traditions of rural life. As a proud member of the FFA, Colton learned the value of hard work, leadership, and caring for God’s creatures. These values helped earn him a spot on the Iowa National High School Rodeo Team all four years of high school. He competed in boys cutting, team roping and trap shooting. Whether competing in the rodeo arena, or mentoring younger members, he always gave his best and encouraged others to do the same.
As a child, Colton enjoyed baseball, bowling, and playing his saxophone. Colton grew to love hunting and rodeo life. Some of his most cherished memories were hunting hogs, aoudads, and armadillos in Texas, Lousianna, and Oklahoma with great friends. He enjoyed playing games, from cards to board games, always bringing laughter and good company wherever he went. He will be remembered for his quiet nature, honest handshake, and kind heart.
Colton was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents; Darrell and Verlea Stuva, Clyde and Betty Woodside, Francis and Waunetta Hosch and Kenneth and Irene Dreyer.
Colton is survived by his parents, Chris and Heather Stuva of Fontanelle; sister, Carli Stuva; paternal grandparents, Denny and Sherry Stuva of Bridgewater; maternal grandparents, Bob and Becky Hosch of Aplington, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle with a luncheon immediately following the service. Friends and family are invited to wear jeans and boots in Colton’s honor. The Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle is in charge of the professional arrangements. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Stuva Family in honor of Colton. A scholarship will be set up in his name at a later date. The family of Colton Stuva wishes to express their gratitude for all acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow.
