(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. will open their men’s basketball season tonight hosting Farleigh Dickinson University, coverage on KSOM.
The Cyclones are ranked #16 in the early AP poll but already have injury problems — star point guard Tamin Lipsey is banged up the start the season but he is expected to play tonight. Head Coach TJ Otzelberger does have another option — Freshman Killyan Toure has been one of the standouts in the exhibition season
Iowa St. returns 6-8 Junior Milan Momcilovic (11.5 ppg), 6-9 Senior Joshua Jefferson (13.0 ppg, 7.4 rbg), 6-5 Senior Nate Heise (5.1 ppg) plus Lipsey (10.6 ppg, 3.1 assists per game). 6-5 Senior Dominick Nelson is a transfer from Utah Valley who should provide instant offense averaging 14.4 points a game. Otzelberger has size that has transferred as well like 6-9 Senior Eric Mulder from Purdue Ft. Wayne and 6-10 Junior Blake Buchanan from Virginia.
