(Guthrie Center, IA) — The Guthrie County Supervisors approved a new AI Policy at their weekly meeting on Tuesday. County IT Administrator Brian Hoffman told the supervisors that there was a need to develop a policy after many county agencies were using AI and he wanted to make sure that a human was making a final decision
Hoffman says that Guthrie County is one of the few counties that have developed such a policy related to AI. The Supervisors approved the new policy with a 5-0 vote.
The Supervisors also approved the second consideration of Resolution 26-10 declaring emergency medical services an essential service in Guthrie County — the vote was 4-1 with Supervisor Mike Dickson against.
The Supervisors also heard the annual review of the Weed Commissioner’s Report — County Engineer Josh Sebern says the last year was pretty typical in the battle against weeds but there were still a few landowners who had to be notified via certified mail to cut back on their weeds. Tim Masters was re-appointed as the Weed Commissioner for 2026.
