(Avoca, IA) — AC/GC remained undefeated on the season with a 42-14 road win at AHSTW.
The Chargers got nearly 500 yards of total offense but actually threw the ball three times and had more passing yards on Friday night then they had the previous 6 weeks.
AC/GC got the ball first and stuck to the ground as Joe Crawford scampered for 40 yards to set up a 2 yard TD run to make it 7-0. AHSTW moved the ball on their first possession but the drive stalled at the Charger 31 and a 4th and 7 pass fell incomplete. AC/GC ran down the field and Brexton Schneider scored on a 10 yard TD to make it 14-0.
After an AHSTW punt pinned the Chargers at their own 1 yard line, AC/GC moved the ball to midfield and then — surprise — Tommy Skram faked the handoff and found a wide open Crawford for a 44 yard TD pass, just the 5th pass all season and it was 21-0.
AC/GC got it back just before the end of the first half and Skram went to the air again and found Crawford for a 41 yard pass and Schneider finished the drive with a 4 yard TD run and the Chargers led 28-0 at the half.
AHSTW got a great kickoff return from Drew Lee to start the 3rd quarter and Dayton Osbahr found Collin Harder for an 11 yard TD pass to get on the board. However, two straight Crawford runs made it 42-7. Gettler added a 23 yard TD run for the Vikings for the game’s final score.
