(Clarinda) Five runners from Riverside finished in the top ten, leading their team to victory at the Clarinda Invitational Cross Country meet on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs secured the team title, with Dawson Henderson and Brody Henderson finishing first and second, respectively, with only three seconds separating them. Owen Fenner placed fourth, Eli Hudnall took sixth, and Cruz Jaquez finished seventh. Additionally, James McCready finished in a respectable thirteenth place, while Colton Herring also contributed to the team’s success.
Red Oak finished in second place with a total of 53 points. Emmanuel Grass led the Tigers with a third-place finish, followed by Hayden Heitbrink in fifth, Osiel Pedersen in tenth, Casey Johnson in 19th, Bryce Williams in 24th, Manuel DeLeon in 39th, and Pace Chaillie in 41st.
Shenandoah took third place with 74 points. Mason Sells led the Mustangs with an eighth-place finish, while Luke Daoust came in 11th, Carter Buttry in 12th, Conor O’Hara in 23rd, and Will Stevenson in 32nd. Luke Mather finished in 62nd, and Lucas Sun rounded out the lineup in 69th.
Atlantic placed fourth with 95 points, with Mason Betts leading the team with a ninth-place finish and Anthony Akers coming in 16th. The rest of the lineup included Caleb Andersen in 29th, Kouper Kinney in 30th, Preston Williams in 33rd, D’Artagnan Hansen in 35th, and John McCurdy in 38th. Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason expressed satisfaction with the boys’ performance on Tuesday, noting that Mason Betts ran well and continues to improve alongside the rest of the team.
Rounding out the team scores were Clarinda in fifth with 142 points, Nebraska City in sixth with 171 points, East Atchison in seventh with 212 points, and Southwest Valley in eighth with 213 points.
