(Corning, IA) — Southwest Valley’s football team played shorthanded last Friday in a 54-6 loss to AC/GC. Starting QB Wyatt Mendenhall has not played yet this season after suffering a shoulder injury in the team’s scrimmage. Head Coach Keegan Longabaugh had hoped he could return this week but he says that does not appear to be the case
The backup QB is Wyatt Shires but he was hurt last week as well so the Timberwolves went with Junior Walker Bissell and while the passing game has been non-existent, Longabaugh likes some of things he does there so with Shires scheduled to return this week, Bissell will keep the job
Last weekend, Longabaugh’s cell phone was burning up with guys telling him they were hurt but he says the phone was quiet this weekend and Southwest Valley is getting healthy again. However, Longabaugh will be without a key lineman Casey Jones who may not be back until late in the season
Southwest Valley will visit 1-1 Central Decatur this Friday night.
