(Mills Co.) A man wanted on multiple felony warrants was captured Wednesday after deputies, with the help of Mills County K9 Danken, tracked him to a tree where he was hiding.
The Mills County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit says on Wednesday, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip regarding the whereabouts of a male subject with active felony warrants in Mills County and surrounding jurisdictions. The individual was identified as Aaron Lacy, who was reportedly staying in a camper located on a property in Mills County.
Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle associated with Mr. Lacy. While on scene, deputies observed a male matching Mr. Lacy’s description fleeing on foot eastbound from the camper. Deputy Rice, along with his partner K9 Danken, initiated a track of the suspect.
K9 Danken successfully tracked the individual to a wooded area where deputies discovered Mr. Lacy hiding in a tree. Mr. Lacy surrendered without incident and was taken into custody. In addition to his outstanding warrants from Mills County, Audubon County, and Douglas County, Nebraska, Mr. Lacy was charged with Interference with Official Acts.
The Mills County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during this incident by the Glenwood Police Department.
The Mills County K9 Unit would like to thank the community for its continued support of the program. “The ongoing partnership between the deputies, K9s, and residents plays a vital role in keeping Mills County safe.”
