(Chariton) A Union County man was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened on Thursday evening on Highway 34 and South 8th Street in Chariton. Authorities say 21-year-old Curtis Decker of Lorimor was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of serious injuries.
According to the report, a 1996 Ford Explorer, driven by 79-year-old Perry Housman of Chariton, failed to yield to a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The bike collided with the pickup’s front quarter panel. Decker was thrown from the motorcycle.
