(Atlantic) — The Atlantic football team is wrapping up preparations ahead of Friday night’s scrimmage with Shenandoah. This marks the fifth installment in our series spotlighting the 2025 Trojan roster, with today’s focus on the linebackers and defensive line.
Leading the way for Atlantic is junior linebacker Jake Wailes, a First Team All-District selection in 2024. Wailes anchored the defense last season with 67 tackles—52 of them solo—along with one sack and 4.5 tackles for loss. He’s joined by Carter Hadley, the Trojans’ second-leading tackler a year ago. Hadley, an All-District Honorable Mention, finished with 53 stops, including 39 solo tackles and six tackles for loss.
Head Coach Joe Brummer says both Wailes and Hadley will not only play key roles on the field but also serve as defensive leaders. He also noted several other players who will contribute to the linebacker rotation and along the defensive front.
Brummer added that the Trojans have flexibility on the defensive line with a variety of combinations expected to see action.
Atlantic hosts Shenandoah in a scrimmage on Friday, August 22, at 6:00 p.m. The Trojans officially kick off the season at home on Friday, August 29, against Glenwood. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Catch live coverage all season on 95.7 FM, as well as video streams on westiowatoday.com and YouTube.
