(Lewis) With the upcoming renovation of Cold Springs Park in Lewis, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources have been moving fish to other area ponds.
John Lorenzen, Fisheries Biologist with the DNR, said so far they have been focusing on moving large mouth bass.
Lorenzen said the lake is now down a little over two feet. He said fishing at Cold Springs is still allowed until the renovation begins, but he recommends trying another nearby lake. The lake will continue to be pumped down another one to three feet. Renovation is expected to begin in late August, depending on the weather.
John Lorenzen will appear on the DNR Report Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. on 96.5 FM, KSOM. In addition to discussing the Cold Springs renovation, he will also talk about paddlefish stocking at Okoboji and Rathbun and share some interesting facts about the fur market.
