(Atlantic) Produce in the Park is gearing up for the start of the school year with a “Back to School, Back to COOL” farmers market this Thursday, August 7, 4:30-6:30 at the Atlantic City Park. Kids won’t want to miss free fire truck water fights, and park visitors of all ages will enjoy dancing in the foam party sponsored by T.S. Bank. The market will also offer face painting.
Various community organizations–including ARISE, Healthy Cass County, Atlantic Public Library, and Zion Integrated Behavioral Health Services–will be set up at the park on August 7 offering resources, information, and activities. For example, members of Southwest Iowa’s Civil Air Patrol are bringing a flight simulator and aerospace activities for younger kids. Food trucks Liza’s Sushi & More, Amos Fabulous Foods, and B&D’s Homemade Ice Cream will be selling at the August 7 farmer’s market.
Over 30 vendors will be selling products at the park this week. Fresh produce includes tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn, and peppers. Shoppers can also expect farm-fresh eggs, honey, meats (beef, chicken, and lamb), freeze-dried snacks (fruit, vegetables, and candy), and baked goods and desserts, in addition to craft and other non-food products such as soaps, fresh-cut flowers, leather wallets, paintings, 3-D printed fidgets, cut and polished rocks, garden decorations, wood products, and more.
The farmers market season is now only half over and Produce in the Park continues to accept new vendors selling handmade or homegrown products. For more information on vending at Produce in the Park visit www.produceintheparkatlanticiowa.com or email produceintheparkatlanticiowa@gmail.com.
