(Griswold, IA) — In 2016, Griswold’s baseball team won 14 games — this year they only won 8 but it was the most since then and even though the Tigers did not get above .500, Head Coach Ryan Lockwood believes they made a lot of progress in 2025
Griswold graduates three seniors off this 8-15 team: Bode Wyman and Zane Johnson were the two leading hitters — Wyman at .369, 1, 10, 21 runs and 18 stolen bases while Johnson hit .368, 2, 27, a team leading 27 runs and 15 stolen bases. Lockwood says Johnson has been a starter since 8th grade but Wyman was the top pitcher on the club and will be hard to replace
The other senior is Alex Nelson who started 12 games and scored 10 runs.
The Tigers will return some talent — Junior Calden Turner hit .300 with 19 RBI and on the mound showed some potential along with Kolbe Klindt to lead the staff next year says Lockwood
Brayden Lockwood is another Junior who will provide experience on the mound and in the field. Sophomore Cavyn Turner is another returner that will be expected to be a big contributor. Lockwood overall felt the offense was consistent all season and would like to play more small ball next season.
