(Harlan) Monday, the Harlan School Board awarded a contract to Lynn Johnson, to serve as Interim Schools Superintendent. Mrs Johnson currently serves as the Arlington, Nebraska District Superintendent and is retiring on June 30.
“I’m very excited to take on this opportunity in this position,” said Johnson. “We’re not unfamiliar with Iowa, my husband grew up there and my sister lives there and teachers in the school system. We’ve always followed Harlan and some of the surrounding communities. So I’m aware of their storied history of excellence and looking forward to joining them.”
Lynn Johnson says the Harlan School District can expect a servant leader who is passionate about public education and about working hard for the students and staff.
“I have knowledge about building trusting relationships and just getting to know people,” stated Johnson. ” I have been in the business for a long time and I have a lot to learn relative to some of the specifics to Iowa. But, I bring a knowledge base that I think will be valuable and I am excited to grow there also.”
Lynn Johnson is married to her husband Steve who is a teacher and coach in the Arlington School District. They have four children, including a daughter-in-law and most recently one grandchild.
Mrs Johnnson will begin her duties on July 15, or as soon as she is properly licensed to serve the district superintendent.
Grundmeyer Leader Services will again assist the district in recruiting and hiring the next long-term superintendent. That process will begin in November with more stakeholders involved in the process.
