(Lewis) The deadline to file papers for the open seat on the Lewis City Council is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25. The Special Election is set for August 19.
Russell Miller is the only candidate to file for the seat left open by Chris Jahnke, who took over the Mayoral Position on April 29, 2025. The council position will only be a temporary one and will last until the end of the year. There will be another election for the same at-large council seat on November 4 in the regular election, where the winner will start a new term in 2026.
Prospective candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy and nomination petition with a minimum of 10 signatures from eligible Lewis voters with the Cass County Auditor’s office no later than 5 pm on Friday, July 25. Nomination papers are available in the auditor’s office at the Cass County Courthouse.
