(Guthrie Center, IA) — AC/GC baseball was hoping for improvement in 2025 after winning just two games the year before and they got it. The Chargers finished 10-14 and won a playoff game 3-2 over AHSTW before bowing out to Woodbine.
AC/GC will graduate five seniors including their leading pitcher Noah Kading (3-2, 3.18 ERA, 43 K’s), Jackson Pfrang hit the team’s only home run this season, Payton Policky (.270), starting catcher Tatyum Bates (.294) and Ben Franzeen (.250). Head Coach Nick McCool says they all made an impact
A big highlight for the Chargers was the play of the Skram brothers — Junior Tommy emerged as a speedster on the base paths, covered a lot of ground in center field and was the team’s leading hitter (.417, 15 RBI, 28 SB, 30 hits, 33 runs) and his younger brother Will (.361) hit better than most 8th graders and McCool says they are both all baseball
On the mound, Tommy Skram and Junior Blaize Dorsey will anchor the pitching staff next year — Skram was 1-3 with a 7.57 ERA and Dorsey was 2-2 and 5.79 so improvements need to made and McCool says they both have the ability to do that
McCool says AC/GC was 10-2 versus 1A teams with the two losses against Coon Rapids Bayard and Woodbine and he hopes to keep expectations high for 2026.
