(Adair Co) Adair County Conservation Director Dominic Johnson shared plans for a proposed office/nature center with the Adair County Board of Supervisors this morning.
Johnson said they chose the location for the building to be at Ken Sidey Nature Area since it is more centralized. The building would include a welcome room, restrooms, office space, reception area, a conference room, a kitchen/break room that would be attached to the banquet/exhibit room.
Johnson said the building would have steel siding, with design elements to give it a more modern appearance. He also presented plans for a maintenance building.
At this point, these are only preliminary plans. The supervisors felt the cost estimates were a bit high. Eventually, the project would need to go out for bids.
Dominic Johnson also reported that they had another good fiscal year of camping.
Johnson said recently camping numbers have been pretty good, but a little slow at times.
