(Area) — In late June, the Hawkeye Ten Conference promised possible change and possibly inviting new members into the fold and on Monday it followed through. The H-10 has formally invited Carroll and Treynor to become members of the conference. The conference has set a deadline of September 1 to indicate whether they would accept or refuse the membership invitation.
Treynor is currently in the Western Iowa Conference which has lost Audubon and IKM Manning beginning in the 2026-27 school year and has sent out invitations to 10 different schools with a August 1 deadline. Carroll is in the Raccoon River Conference which currently has nine members including ADM, Ballard, Bondurant Farrar, Boone, Carlisle, Gilbert, North Polk, and Winterset along with the Tigers. Before today, the Raccoon River had not been involved in the “conference shuffle” that is affected western Iowa.
Currently, five members of the Hawkeye Ten Conference have invitations to join other conferences — Red Oak and Shenandoah each has a deadline of August 1 to either accept or refuse an invite to the Western Iowa Conference and Denison Schleswig, Harlan, Glenwood and Lewis Central have invitations on the table to join the Missouri Rivers Conference.
The Hawkeye Ten has said that it plans to divide the conference between large and small schools and inviting Carroll and Treynor would fit into that mold.
