(Red Oak) The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors approved Ed Young as the county’s new Veterans Affairs Director during their meeting on Tuesday morning.
Young is a retired Army veteran with eight years of service and is a businessman currently living near Red Oak. He moved to the community from Glenwood in 2020. Young has a background as a retired investment advisor and previously worked as a banker, overseeing several banks throughout his career. He holds degrees in Business and Language Arts. In addition to his new role, Young serves as a preacher in Council Bluffs and works as a substitute teacher. He will be working 28 hours per week in his position.
In other business, the supervisors approved a resolution to allocate funds for the fiscal year 2026 Montgomery County budget, explained by County Auditor Jill Ozuna.
The supervisors then approved a resolution for Interfund Operating Transfers.
Additionally, Montgomery County Engineer Karen Albert reported that during the fiscal year 2024/2025, the county maintained 108 miles of road, using a total of 46,000 tons of rock this past fiscal year. Over the last three years, the county has rocked up a total of 291.5 miles of road.
