(Griswold, IA) — The Griswold CAM Softball team is rolling through their conference slate with a 7-0 record leading Fremont Mills who is at 5-1. The Tigers suffered their first losses of the season this past Saturday at the Underwood tournament, losing 6-4 to Ogden and 6-1 to 10th ranked Missouri Valley but they beat a Class 4A team Lewis Central. Head Coach Jody Rossell says playing good competition like that will help them when they get to the playoffs
The Tigers are getting great production in the circle — Sophomore Sadie Gohlinghorst has made 6 starts and has a 1.88 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 26 innings and Freshman Ailey Wahlert has a 1.21 ERA in her 9 starts with 76 Ks in 52 innings. Wahlert is also crushing the ball offensively, batting .588 with 2 HR and 23 RBI.
Other big numbers for the Tigers — Senior Marissa Askeland is batting .447 with 10 RBI in the leadoff spot; Courtney Follmann .404, 2, 23; Abby Gohlinghorst .361 with 11 RBI and leading the team with 22 runs scored; Addison Adams .396 with 18 RBI and 21 runs. After an off day Wednesday, Griswold has two conference games and then will see tougher competition with games against Exira EHK Audubon and Shenandoah at their field on Saturday
Griswold CAM will host Stanton on Thursday and host Hamburg on Friday.
