(Atlantic) Despite the cool temperatures, Nishna Valley Family YMCA Aquatics Coordinator Chelsea Rush is moving forward with plans to open the Sunnyside Pool in Atlantic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31.
Rush says they are going to do the Polar Plunge on Saturday, for anyone brave enough to jump into water temperatures of 63 degrees. Rush says there will be prizes for those taking the plunge.
The pool located at 1000 Sunnyside Lane will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The pool has concessions, a diving board, lap lanes, a zero entrance, a baby pool, lounge areas, and a toddler play area. New this year is a Toddler story time session held every Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Additionally, the staff is building a smash park, thanks to a generous donation from the Atlantic Carriers.
A pass or daily admission is $5.00; children 5 years old and under are free.
The new Splash Pad is open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily and is free to the public. The new facility features a spray park, a dump bucket, concessions during pool hours, seating, and shade.
