(Griswold, IA) — A new venture begins on Tuesday night as Griswold and CAM come together to form a softball team; they open against East Mills, coverage on KSOM. CAM did not have enough players to fully complete a team in 2025 so they sought a partner and Griswold, with low numbers themselves, agreed. Head Coach Jodi Rossell did not have much time for her team to develop chemistry — the overlap from spring to summer sports pretty much non existent, she will have to see how they will come together on the field
Griswold used a senior pitcher last year — Karly Millikan threw the majority of the innings with a 1.15 ERA but she has graduated. CAM used an 8th grader in most of its innings last season Alley Wahlert had a 3.08 ERA in 111.1 innings pitched with 121 strikeouts. Rossell believes the pitching depth is a strength so she won’t have to use Wahlert all the time
Offensively, Marissa Askeland was the Griswold offensive leader, batting .468 with 1 HR and 31 RBI. She is back for her Senior year and Rossell says between returners from CAM and Griswold, they should be able to score runs
Griswold will open against East Mills tonight (Tuesday) then visit Bedford on Thursday.
