(Des Moines) The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred around 4:30 a.m. on May 11, 2025, at the Kwik Star located at 5145 N.E. 14th Street in Des Moines. Deputies responding to reports of gunfire found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A short time later, the Des Moines Police Department alerted the Sheriff’s Office that a second adult male had arrived at a hospital by private vehicle with a gunshot wound. Authorities have confirmed that his injuries are connected to the same incident at Kwik Star, though the severity of his condition is currently unknown.
Detectives are actively investigating the scene and conducting interviews to determine what led to the shooting. Officials have stated that the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
