(Atlantic) The Atlantic FFA will kick off a plant sale this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Cass County Community Center. Additional sale times will be held Monday, May 12 through Thursday, May 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Atlantic High School greenhouse.
The plants were cultivated by students in the school’s greenhouse, a 48’x60′ structure made possible through generous community support. In 2021, the Atlantic School Foundation donated $100,000 toward the project. A major contribution was also made by the Hunt Family, honoring the memory of Jim and Gert Hunt through a donation to the Atlantic Community School Foundation.
Eric Miller, Atlantic Middle School/High School Agriculture and Industrial Technology teacher, secured an $8,000 grant from Farm Credit Services to support the project.
The greenhouse was constructed by high school construction trades students under the guidance of instructor Dexter Dodson. Local businesses also contributed to the project: Snyder Engineering completed site work, Stamp Construction handled tiling, PCS assisted with concrete work, and Camblin Mechanical and Berg Electric provided additional support.
