(Lewis) Five candidates threw their hats into the ring in the Lewis Mayoral race. The five prospects included Christopher Jahnke, Anthony L. Sorbello, Jeffrey Witt, Russell L. Miller, and Nancy Cerica-Joens.
Cass County Auditor Kathy Somers released the unofficial results on Tuesday evening. The race was between Chris Jahnke and Nancy Cerica-Joens. Jahnke narrowly defeated Cerica-Joens 71-69.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Witt received six votes, Anthony L. Sorbello three, and Russell L. Miller two.
151 ballots were cast out of a possible 236 registered voters in Lewis.
According to the Cass County Auditor’s Office, the Secretary of State’s Office will conduct the standard post-audit on Friday, May 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room at the Cass County Courthouse. The Secretary of State’s Office will audit the absentee ballot portion of the election. Post-election audits are mandatory in all 99 Iowa counties following each election. The Board of Supervisors will canvass the election on May 6.
