Cass County Board of Supervisors Declare April as Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month

(Cass Co) The Cass County Board of Supervisors declared April as Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month.

The goal is to help raise awareness of the resources and information that the Cass County Child Abuse Prevention Council is sharing throughout the county this month.

In other activity, the Supervisors set the date and time for the public hearing on the proposed budget for 9:00 a.m. on April 22^nd.

The Supervisors then approved the appointment of Darby McLaren as Reserve Deputy effective April 1, 2025 with a wage of $1.00 per year. Cass County Sheriff John Westering said McLaren still wants to be involved in law enforcement.

The Supervisors approved the Cass County Hazard Mitigation Grant Project application in the amount of $3,375, which is 15-percent of the total $22,500 grant. Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon said the last one was done in 2022.

The Supervisors also approved an updated Indigent Remains Disposition Policy.

The board voted 4 to 1 to approve the resolution, with Bernard Pettinger voting Nay.
