(Des Moines, IA) A suspect was shot during an arrest on Des Moines’ southside.
The Des Moines Police Department says officers responded to a 911 call Thursday afternoon and saw a man assault a women. As a officer tried to intervene the man ran. A second officer found the suspect and attempted to arrest him, which caused an altercation and the officer shot the suspect.
Both the officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital. The officer has been released but the suspect remains hospitalized. The shooting is under investigation by the Iowa Department of Public Safety and city police.
