(Anita, IA) — It is rare in high school track and field to have the same group in a relay come back from last season. At CAM, they could have the same shuttle hurdle team all four years. Last year, Head Coach Luke Symonds took four freshmen to state in the shuttle hurdle relay and they finished in 18th place. Now they are all back as sophomores and the goal is to get on the medal stand says Symonds
Ada Hansen anchored the shuttle and she also got on the medal stand individually, finishing third in the 400 hurdles and just missed the stand with a 9th place finish in the 800. Ruthie Rich also is strong in the sprints and Symonds identifies other standouts this year
For the field events, Sophomore Courtney Follmann was 22nd in the discus at the state
Nadia South and Lily Morford will compete in the long jump and Symonds says he is still looking for high jumpers. Overall the Cougars have 16 girls coming out for track and field this season.
