#1 St. Albert 61, #3 Newell Fonda 58 (2 OT) — The final game of the girls state tournament turned into a double overtime classic and the first ever state title for the Saintes. The two teams exchanged the lead seven times in the second half before Eleanor Coughlin of St. Albert drove for a basket, the ball circling the rim twice before dropping through and tying the game at 51 with 9 seconds left. The Mustangs came from five points down in the first overtime to tie it at 56 and Mareni Barbec had an open shot from the left corner but left it just short. In the 2nd OT, neither team could score the first three minutes but Molly Wise for the Saintes hit a three with 1:04 to go and that was the game winning shot for St. Albert. Brabec missed a three to answer and two free throws by Maura Ryan with 44 seconds put it away. St. Albert finishes 23-4 and was led by Avah Underwood with 24 points and 20 rebounds.
