(Des Moines, IA) — After the Iowa House and Senate passed SF 418 on Thursday, Governor Kim Reynolds moved quickly on Friday and signed the bill into law which will remove gender equity from the Iowa Civil Rights Act. The proposal was introduced in the state legislature last week and despite multiple protests at the statehouse, it quickly became law. Under the new policy, transgender and nonbinary Iowans will no longer be protected under Iowa law.
