(Des Moines, IA) — Ashton Honnold was pushed to the limit but he and Trent Warner of Nodaway Valley both made it into the state finals on Friday at the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament. Honnold actually trailed 4-0 to Carter Wright of Woodbury Central but got an escape to start the third period, earned a key point on stalling and then got the key takedown with 27 seconds left to get a 5-4 win and now has a chance at back to back state titles.
Moments later, Trent Warner at 285 had to endure the challenge of Tyler Sulseberger of Sloan Westwood — after a scoreless first period, Warner got an escape to start the second period and then when Sulseberger had to make a move late, Warner got a takedown and near fall points for a 6-0 win.

126 — Gavin Sloss fell short of the medal stand with a 4-2 loss to Blake Irvine of Don Bosco and ends his senior season with a 38-10 record.
AHSTW
175 — Kayden Baxter’s season came to an end in blood round, losing by fall at 4:20 to Gavin Muller of Osage. The senior finishes 36-10.
285 — Henry Lund lost by fall at 3:05 to #2 seed Wyatt Hanna of Lake Mills and will wrestle on Saturday in the consolation semifinals.
Lenox
144 — Dylan Stein had upset #2 seed Ryan Groom of North Mahaska in the quarterfinals but ran into #3 seed Steve Brandenburg of Lake Mills in the semifinals and lost 8-7 on a takedown with 34 seconds left. Stein will wrestle tomorrow in the consolation semifinals
157 — Chase England insured himself of a medal with a blood round win by fall at 4:51 over Devon Blanchard of Nashua Plainfield but lost to Holden Koele of Woodbury Central by fall at 2:52 and will wrestle for 7th place on Saturday.
Logan Magnolia
106 — Crosby Yoder won in the blood round over Landon Bell of Highland Riverside by TF 15-0. Yoder got a takedown at the start of every period. He then lost to Carver Hinz of Jesup 11-8 and will wrestle for 7th place on Saturday.
150 — Corbin Reisz will go for a back to back state title tomorrow night. The senior and #1 seed beat Kolt Knaack of North Tama by TF 20-5.
215 — Carson Edney lost in the blood round by fall at 5:30 to Eaghan Fleshman of Alburnett and his season ends at 28-4
Riverside
113 — Kingston Carrigan lost a tough match by fall at 5:40 to Jack Border of Hinton — he trailed 9-3 but made a furious rally with a takedown and 3 nearfall points at the start of the third period to tie it up at 13-13. Border got an escape and another immediate takedown to retake the lead and eventually got the pin. Carrigan fell just short of the medal stand as a sophomore with a 36-16 record.
126 — Davis Bramman guaranteed himself a medal with a 13-8 win over Owen Becerra of Missouri Valley but suffered a tough loss 4-1 in sudden death to Ryan Bahnsen of West Lyon. Bramman will wrestle for 7th place on Saturday.
132 — Drew Anderson moved into the finals with a fall at 5:10 over Brock Morris of Cascade. Anderson will face #1 seed Jayden Rinken of Nashua Plainfield in the finals Saturday night.
150 — Taven Moore’s goal of a medal fell short in the blood round, losing by fall at 3:06 to Chance Hoyt of Iowa Valley — the senior’s final record is 36-12.
Shenandoah
132 — Cole Scanman had to come from behind but won in the blood round 11-7 over Easton Sonberg of Osage. Scanman gave up a takedown and 3 nearfall points in the first period. Trailing 6-1 going to the third, Scanman got a takedown, then gave up an escape, then got another takedown and then added 4 nearfall points for the win. Scanman then lost to Matthew Mintle of Lynnville Sully 10-9 and will wrestle for 7th place on Saturday.
138 — Hayden Roush lost in the blood round by fall at 1:22 and finishes his season 40-18.
165 — Jacob McGargill moved into the finals with a MD 16-3 win over Clay Wilgenbusch of East Buchanan
190 — Jayden Dickerson suffered his first loss of the season to #1 seed Louden Huisenga of WACO 4-3 in the semifinals
Treynor
175 — Zach Robbins survived the blood round with a MD 14-3 win over Landon Schunelle of South Winneshiek and then won by fall at 2:50 over Noah Henderson of Sumner Fredericksburg is now in the consolation semifinals.
Underwood
120 — Ryan Fletcher missed the medal stand with a MD 12-0 loss to Jesse Burton of Sloan Westwood. Fletcher ends his season at 38-13.
138 — Dane DeVault lost in the blood round by tech fall and finishes 40-21.
144 — Lucas Bose lost in the semifinals by fall at 3:49 to #1 seed Blake Fox of Osage — will be in consolation semifinals on Saturday.
190 — Hayden Heun lost 4-3 in the blood round and finishes his senior season 30-17.
