(Des Moines, IA) — Here are updates from Lewis Central, CBAL and CBTJ after two days at the Class 3A state wrestling tournament.
Lewis Central
106 — Zander Manz won in the first round TF 21-5; lost in the 2nd round 9-7; on Wednesday, won by fall at 3:09 and then beat Kent Montgomery of Newton 10-0 to advance to the blood round on Friday. Manz is now 50-5.
113 — Weston Porter had a bye in the first round, won by fall at 3:14; on Thursday, Porter was DQ’d on an illegal move on Dylan Munson of Prairie, Cedar Rapids — Munson was carted off the mats by a stretcher. By rule, Maunson advances to the semifinals while Porter will wrestle in the blood round tomorrow
126 — Owen Duffek went 0-2 losing by fall at 5:02 and then losing 11-0 in the consolation round, the sophomore ends his season at 31-14.
132 — Carter Schorsch had a first round bye, lost in the 2nd round 10-2, won in the consolation round TF 17-1 and then won by fall at 5:40 and will go to the blood round.
138 — Dennis Gregory went 0-2 losing by fall at 5:13 and 8-4 and the senior finishes his season 27-25.
144 — Mandius Valentine won his first ever match at state by fall at 5:19 then lost by TF 18-1; In the consolation round, the freshman lost by fall at 1:52 to finish 43-17.
175 — Chance Chappell went 0-2 losing by fall at 2:33 then losing 13-2 in the consolation round and the senior wrapped his season at 30-17.
190 — Paxton Blanchard had a first round bye and then won 4-0; on Thursday, he lost to #1 seed Asa Hernsted of Carlisle in 59 seconds and will move to the consolation round on Friday
215 — Joseph Monge missed out on a bye as a 9 seed but beat Hayden Chandler of Clinton by fall in 56 seconds, then won by fall at 4:57; on Thursday, the senior lost to #1 seed Deshaun Ross of Fort Dodge by TF 21-6 and will go to the blood round on Friday.

106 — Braydon Tranmer won 10-0; lost 14-6; won by fall 3:45 in the consolation round but lost by fall at 5:09 to finish his season at 36-13
113 — Gabe Showers won in the first round by TF 15-0; lost in the 2nd round to Weston Porter at 3:14; On Thursday, Showers won by fall at 6:34 but lost by tech fall 19-3 to Coby Fiser of Western Dubuque. Showers is sophomore who finishes 37-19
132 — Luis Avalos won by tech fall and then lost in the 2nd round by fall at 1:33; on Thursday, the senior won 10-4 and 14-4 and will need to win in the blood round on Friday to earn a medal.
138 — Jonathan Ryan went 0-2 losing 8-7 and 11-2 and the senior finishes 23-11.
144 — Trenton Byers won by medical FF in the first round but lost by MD 16-4; on Thursday, the fresman won at 4:48 and then by tech fall over Kepler Carmichael of North Scott and moves to the blood round.
175 — Kowen Dighton won by fall at 2:19, lost 13-4 in the 2nd round; In the consolation round on Thursday he lost by fall at 5:09 to finish 38-15.

126 — Noah Phillips for the Yellow Jackets went 1-1 on day one with a win at 5:02 and a loss by TF 17-2; On Thursday, the Senior went 2-0 with a win at 2:42 and a 9-5 victory over Nick McAllister of Waukee to advance to Friday’s blood round.
