(Oakland, IA) — Saturday’s district wrestling at Riverside High School will start at 12:30 instead of 10 am. Weigh ins will be at 11 am. The time was moved in order to give everyone more travel time in the morning. The teams heading to Riverside include Bedford, East union, Essex, Lenox, Mount Ayr, Shenandoah, Southwest Iowa, Southwest Valley, and Treynor. Nodaway Valley will also be one of the team’s competing and Head Coach Brad Honnold expects some of his wrestlers to have tough brackets
At 285, Trent Warner will be the #1 seed and he may not be 100 percent after suffering a knee injury a few weeks ago but he has been back on the mat in competition and Honnold says Warner at 80 or 90 percent is better than some other guys at 100
At 215, Ashton Honnold will begin defense of his state championship — so far the Junior is a perfect 45-0 and he is chasing perfection, he doesn’t just want a win every time he hits the mat, he wants a pin, he wants to dominate. Coach Honnold says that drive is a good thing
Again, the wrestling will start at 12:30 tomorrow at Riverside
